What's in a Bali wedding package, and what costs extra?
On this page
What’s usually included?
A Bali ceremony package is the venue’s starting offer for the ceremony itself. A full-wedding package adds dinner and more, and usually sets a guest limit.
| Item | Ceremony package | Full-wedding package |
|---|---|---|
| Ceremony space and basic set-up | Usually included | Included |
| Venue coordinator on the day | Ask: varies | Ask: varies |
| Flowers and decor | Ask: varies | Included in the one we checked |
| Dinner and drinks | Extra | Included, with set drinks hours and a guest limit |
| Photography | Extra | Ask: varies |
| Accommodation | Extra | Villa nights included in the one we checked |
| Extra guests beyond the limit | n/a | Extra, per guest |
Full-wedding packages for 50 guests run A$25,600–26,400 in the three we found, against a typical A$15,400 for the same wedding built from separate vendors.
What hidden costs should we avoid?
These are the costs that most often appear after the first quote. The figures come from vendors’ own published terms.
| Extra cost | Typical amount | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Extra guests over the package limit | about A$160 (IDR 2M) per guest, on one package | Full-wedding packages |
| Refundable security deposit | A$1,200–2,000 (IDR 14.45M–25M) | Villas and some venues |
| Minimum nights | 2 nights on weekdays, 3 at weekends, at one villa | Private villas |
| Caterer travel fee | A$60–160 (IDR 750,000–2M) outside the main villa areas | Outside caterers |
| Caterer logistics fee | A$120–280 (IDR 1.5M–3.5M) by area | Outside caterers |
| Photographer overtime | about A$160 (IDR 2M) per hour | Photography |
| High-season surcharge | A$1,400–2,300 (IDR 17.5M–28.9M) | Some resorts |
| Planner fee | Price on request | If you use a planner |
Is tax included in Bali wedding prices?
Usually, yes. Most Bali vendors we checked include tax in their prices. Hotels and resorts often mark prices “++”, which means tax and service are added on top. The venue packages in our data are “++”, so ask for the total including tax and service before you compare quotes.
Do we pay a banjar (village) fee?
Only for a party at a private villa or house, and it’s often already in the villa price. One villa package we found lists the event and banjar fee as included. Hotels and venues pay the banjar themselves, so you won’t pay it there. If you’re hiring a villa, ask whether the price includes it.
Package or build it yourself?
- A package is simpler: one contract, one coordinator, a fixed guest limit. It costs more per guest.
- Building it yourself (a venue or villa plus separate caterer, photographer and florist) is usually cheaper and more flexible, but you or a planner coordinate the vendors.
At 50 guests, a typical build-it-yourself wedding comes to A$15,400. With a private villa as the venue it’s about A$19,300. Compare in the calculator
Are “from” prices real?
They’re real starting prices, but rarely the final price. “From” usually means the smallest guest count, a weekday, the basic set-up and, for hotels, tax and service not yet added. Our venue figures come from one planner’s list of 56 “from” prices, last updated in January 2025, so treat them as starting points.
Is a weekday wedding cheaper?
Often. Several venues publish weekday-only packages or shorter minimum stays on weekdays. If your dates are flexible, ask each venue for weekday and weekend prices side by side.
What should we ask before signing?
- What’s the total, including tax and service?
- How many guests does it cover, and what does each extra guest cost?
- What’s not included (drinks, photography, flowers, music)?
- What deposit is due, when is the balance due, and what are the cancellation terms?
- Are there minimum nights, noise curfews or a rain plan?
- For a villa: is the banjar fee included?
Frequently asked questions
How much is a Bali wedding package for 50 guests?
Full-wedding packages for 50 guests run A$25,600–26,400 in the three we found. A wedding built from separate vendors typically costs A$15,400 for 50 guests.
Are Bali wedding packages all-inclusive?
Ceremony packages aren't: they cover the ceremony space and set-up, with dinner and photography extra. Full-wedding packages include more but set a guest limit and charge per extra guest.
What does "++" mean on a Bali price?
Tax and service are added on top of the price shown. It's common at hotels and resorts. Most other Bali vendors include tax.
Do we need a planner if we book a package?
Not always. Ask whether the package includes a coordinator on the day. A planner helps most when you're booking several separate vendors.
