Going to a wedding in Phuket: what do guests need to know?
On this page
How do guests get there?
- From Australia: direct flights to Phuket (HKT) from Perth, Melbourne and Sydney; other cities connect via Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. Routes change seasonally; check at booking.
- From the UK: seasonal direct flights from London; otherwise via Gulf or Asian hubs.
- From the US: no non-stop flights; connect through Asian or Gulf hubs.
Do guests need a visa?
Australian, UK and US passport holders can stay 30 days visa-free from 15 September 2026 (it was 60 days before) (Tourism Authority of Thailand, 1 Sep 2026). Every visitor must fill in the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival at tdac.immigration.go.th; avoid paid look-alike sites. A planned THB 450 tourist entry fee, targeted for 2027, hasn’t started yet (Bernama, 2026).
Where should guests stay?
- Near the venue if it’s a resort wedding; resorts often require a minimum number of room nights.
- Kata and Karon for a range of budgets; Bang Tao for resort-complex convenience; Patong for nightlife.
What should guests wear?
Light, breathable fabrics (31–34°C all year), flat sandals for sand, and a light layer for air-conditioned dinners. Cover shoulders and knees for any temple blessing.
Beach safety
From May to October, west-coast beaches can have strong rip currents. Red flags mean don’t swim.
