Villa, resort or hotel chapel: which Bali wedding venue fits?
On this page
How do Bali venue types compare?
| Venue type | Price (published) | What it includes | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel or resort ceremony package | A$1,400–17,700 (typical A$7,100) | Ceremony space and basic set-up | Simplicity, guests staying on site | Prices are “++” (tax and service on top); dinner priced separately, often at resort rates |
| Private villa (whole property) | about A$11,800 for 2 nights plus event fee | Exclusive use of the villa and grounds; somewhere to stay | Privacy, your own caterers and vendors | Minimum nights, noise curfews, food and furniture extra, banjar fee (ask if included) |
| All-inclusive venue package | about A$25,600–26,400 for 50 guests | Ceremony, decor, dinner and drinks, sometimes villa nights | One booking that covers most things | Guest limits and per-guest extras; less choice of vendors |
The ceremony package range comes from one planner’s list of 56 venues; the villa from one villa’s 2026 rate; the all-inclusive range from three published packages. Treat them as starting points.
Villa or resort for our guest count?
- Up to about 20 guests: a ceremony package or an all-inclusive package for small groups keeps things simple.
- 30 to 100 guests: both work. A resort handles everything on site; a villa gives you privacy and lets you choose your own caterer, but you organise more.
- Over 100 guests: check capacity first. The villa in our data seats up to 150 for dinner.

Can we bring our own caterer?
At a private villa, usually yes, and it’s often the cheaper route: Bali caterers we checked charge A$37–74 per guest for dinner. Resorts usually require their own catering. One resort’s published dinner price is about A$120 per guest before tax and service.
What’s a noise curfew?
Many venues limit amplified music late at night. One venue we checked allows amplified sound until 11 pm. Ask every venue for its cut-off time before you plan the party.
Do we pay a banjar fee at a villa?
Possibly. A village (banjar) fee applies to parties at a private villa or house, and it’s often included in the villa’s price. Hotels and venues pay the banjar themselves, so you won’t pay it there. Ask the villa whether its price includes it.
Which area suits a cliff, beach or jungle wedding?
- Uluwatu: clifftop ceremonies with ocean views.
- Nusa Dua and Jimbaran: resort beaches and calm water.
- Canggu and Seminyak: private villas, beach clubs and easy access to restaurants.
- Ubud: jungle, rice terraces and cooler evenings, inland.
We don’t publish prices by area yet. We’re collecting venue quotes and will add them here.
What’s the rainy-day plan?
Ask every venue what happens if it rains: a covered pavilion, a marquee, or an indoor room. In the wet season (about December to March), make the backup plan part of the booking. Best month to marry in Bali
